Schedule: 12 hour shifts (7am – 7 pm and 7pm – 7am); variable days; weekends and holidays

SUMMARY:

An Emergency Department Assistant plays a vital role in patient care by providing basic, age-appropriate support under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. This position focuses on ensuring patients' comfort, safety, and well-being while maintaining their privacy and confidentiality at all times. Through compassionate care and attention to detail, the Emergency Department Assistant helps create a supportive and reassuring environment for patients and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains patient privacy, confidentiality, and safety at all times.

• Performs technical tasks, including measuring vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collection/transport.

• Assists with patient transport, admissions, discharges, and transfers.

• Keeps areas clean, sanitizes equipment, and ensures proper stocking of supplies.

• Responds promptly to patient needs and call lights, communicating effectively with staff.

• Enforces safety measures and assists with patient observation and restraints as directed.

• Supports hospital operations through teamwork, CPR assistance, and performance improvement efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma (Or equivalent)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
