JOB TITLE: Registered Behavior Technician
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is an integral member of the school district's special education team, providing direct support to students with behavioral and developmental needs. Under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT implements behavior intervention plans, collects data, and supports students in acquiring and improving skills necessary for academic and social success. The RBT plays a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow the guidance and instructions provided by the BCBA to implement individualized behavior intervention plans for students with special needs.Accurately collect and record data on student behavior and skill acquisition using designated measurement systems. Assist the BCBA in analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make appropriate adjustments.
Provide direct support to students with special needs in various settings, including the classroom, resource rooms, and other designated areas. Assist students in acquiring and improving targeted skills and behaviors.
Utilize positive behavior support strategies, reinforcement techniques, and crisis intervention strategies as directed by the BCBA to address challenging behaviors and promote the development of appropriate behaviors.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the student's educational team to ensure consistency and coordination of interventions across different environments. Maintain open and effective communication channels to share progress, concerns, and recommendations.
Provide training and support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff on behavior management techniques, strategies for promoting skill acquisition, and the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on student progress, behavior incidents, and intervention strategies. Prepare reports and communicate findings to the BCBA, school administration, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in behavior analysis and special education. Pursue and maintain certification as an RBT.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations, as well as school board policies, regarding education and students.Demonstrates competence with the concepts of behavior management and applied behavioral analysis and applies the dimensions of applied behavior analysis when developing interventions for student success across the developmental and academic continuum (PK to 21 years of age)
Demonstrates professional competence in the area of teaching students with communication disorders and autism spectrum disorders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.Previous experience working with individuals with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and strategies. Understanding of behavior management techniques and data collection methods.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, administrators, therapists, and parents, to support student needs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and parents.
Ability to adapt to changing situations, adjust interventions as needed, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Adherence to professional and ethical standards in behavior analysis and special education.
Ability to physically support students with mobility or self-regulation challenges as needed.
JOB TYPE: SCHOOL YEAR
This is a 7.5 hour work day 182 day position with paid sick days, paid holidays, and PTO days.
Pay: $35k - $40k per year
Salary : $35,000 - $40,000
