What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asphalt Maintenance Team Member position at Rock County Sealcoat?
Job Summary
Rock County Sealcoat is looking to add a high value team member to our team this year.
If you have experience in asphalt paving, concrete work, sealcoating, DOT highway projects, or crack sealing, that is our ideal candidate.
We provide asphalt sealcoating, crack sealing, infrared patching, and joint sealing on newly paved concrete roads on DOT projects throughout Wisconsin.
Most of our projects are located in the Janesville, WI / Rock County region, but we will be doing fair amount of travel work throughout Wisconsin for DOT projects (joint sealing).
Duties
- Operate equipment including driving 3/4 and 1 ton pickup trucks, seal rite sealcoat sprayer trailers, heated hose crack filling machines, crack routers, torch lances, power washers and other various small engine machines.
- Perform routine inspections and daily pre trip and post trip equipment checklists.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the construction site, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored properly.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
- Show up 10 minutes early daily to work (we don't tolerate tardiness).
Requirements
- Proven experience in labor related roles in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with sealcoating and crack sealing operations and equipment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
- Valid driver's license is required for the role.
We are a rapidly growing asphalt maintenance and road joint sealing contractor. We have a solid team of men in place, and our culture reflects that. We are a family.

Competitive pay depending on your experience level, and your ability. We will start you on a 2 week probationary period and you will receive $20/hr the first 2 weeks. If things go well and its a good fit for both you and the company, we will re evaluate pay at that time.
In-experienced hires can expect to be paid between $20-22/hr. Experienced and high performing men can expect between $22-30/hr. You can expect between 5-15 hours of overtime (1.5x hourly rate) weekly.
All of our DOT projects we do, you will be on DOT road scale (approx. $35/hr). This pay rate holds true for travel time as well. You will also recieve daily per diem on these projects.
We are seasonal and work from approx. April 1st to the Nov. 15th.
We work every day that it does not rain, weekends included. Time off is OK and expected here and there, we just ask for at least 2 weeks heads up so we can properly schedule.
