Under the leadership of the district’s public information officer, the marketing and communications specialist will deliver rich content and execute comprehensive marketing and communication strategies to advance the public’s awareness of the high-quality services provided by the district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Public Relations:
- Develop and implement public relations strategies to promote the organization's brand and initiatives.
- Support editing press releases, media statements, and other PR materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and manage media inquiries.
- Video Streaming and Audio-Visual User-Experience Support:
- Assist with coordinating live streaming of events, webinars, and other digital content.
- Create, edit, and produce video content for promotional and informational purposes.
- Partner with the technology support team to ensure a seamless user experience.
- FOIA Requests:
- Coordinate the response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests promptly and accurately under the supervision of the Public Information Officer (PIO).
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to FOIA.
- Maintain records of all FOIA requests and responses.
- Website Management:
- Partner with schools and departments to design, update, and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring content is current, relevant, and engaging.
- Monitor website analytics to track performance and suggest improvements.
- Optimize the website for SEO and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Social Media Design and Management:
- Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance the organization’s online presence.
- Create engaging content, including graphics, videos, and written posts.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with the audience.
- Analyze social media performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Partnership and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) Consultation Services:
- Coordinate the development of large-scale communication efforts in collaboration with various schools and departments.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all district communications.
- Provide direct support to webmasters and other school-based personnel.
- Develop and implement marketing and communications plans in collaboration with district departments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in marketing, communications, and public relations.
- Proficiency in video editing software, audio-visual equipment, and live streaming platforms.
- Strong knowledge of website management, including experience with CMS (Content Management Systems) and SEO.
- Excellent design skills with proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Demonstrated ability to manage social media platforms and create compelling content.

Salary Range: Specialist
Length of Contract: 240 days/8 hours per day
Starting Date: 2024-2025 School Year
