Minimum Qualifications:
SC CTE WBL and BLS certification, or eligibility for SC certification, in Health Science Technology
Minimum of an associate degree related to science, healthcare, or health science
Document minimum employment in a healthcare setting as a licensed, certified, or registered healthcare professional:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree, teacher candidates, require six months of full-time healthcare work experience, while licensed as an approved healthcare provider, during the last five years.
- Bachelor’s 18 towards their master’s degree, teacher candidates, require one or more years of full-time work experience, while licensed as an approved healthcare provider, during the last five years.
- Bachelor’s degree, teacher candidates, require two or more years of full-time healthcare work experience, while licensed as an approved healthcare provider, during the last five years. during the last five years.
- Associate degree 30 in towards their bachelor’s degree, teacher candidates, require three or more years of full-time work experience during the last five years.
- Associate degree, teacher candidates, require four or more years of full-time healthcare work experience while licensed as an approved healthcare provider, during the last five years. during the last five years.
- Recent work experiences will be an important deciding factor for eligibility approval.
- The SCDE office of Teacher Certification in conjunction with the SCDE Office of Career and Technical Education work together to determine appropriate and approved work experiences.
Approved Medical Professionals with approved certifications and work experience include: Athletic Trainer, Cardio Tech, Chiropractor, Dental Hygienist, Dentist, Sonographer, Exercise Physiologist, Health Education Specialist, Nuclear Medicine Tech, Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Physician, Physician Assistant, Public Health Specialist, Rad Tech, RN, Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to health care
Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student assessment strategies preferred
Desire to work in a collaborative educational environment and dedication to providing quality instruction
Prior work experience in an instructional setting preferred
Skills in interpersonal relations with students, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
Length of Contract: 190 days
Starting Date: 2025-2026
