Position Summary
The CNC Specialist will program, set up, and operate CNC machinery to produce high-quality precision parts according to specifications. This role requires expertise in interpreting blueprints, operating CNC equipment, and ensuring safety and quality standards adherence.
Position Details
CNC Programming:
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
- Troubleshoot and modify existing programs to improve efficiency and precision.
Machine Setup:
- Set up CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, routers) by selecting tools, fixtures, and materials.
- Conduct initial test runs and adjust machine settings to meet production requirements.
Machine Operation:
- Operate CNC machinery to produce parts and components within tight tolerances.
- Monitor the machining process to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional specifications.
Inspection and Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Maintain records of production runs and quality checks.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines.
- Troubleshoot machine errors and resolve technical issues.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to meet project specifications.
- Provide feedback on design improvements for manufacturability.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or technical certification in CNC machining preferred
- Position requires at least 5 years of experience in CNC programming and operation
- Leadership skills including identifying and leading operational changes for CNC processes
- Must be able to demonstrate high capability of CNC programming & operations to include 3 axis, 5 axis, Plataine, and fabric CNC cutter
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
