Position Overview :
We are looking for dedicated and experienced Patent Attorneys and Patent Agents who excel in strategic patent preparation, prosecution, and opinion work. This role is ideal for someone excited to play a key role in helping to build an outstanding fast-growth law firm and who loves learning new technologies, translating complex inventions into high-quality patents and opinions, and working in a dynamic, client-centered environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and methodical, with a hands-on approach to developing and implementing patent strategies to ensure successful outcomes. A self-starter with proven experience managing multiple portfolios and cases efficiently, who adheres to processes and meets deadlines will thrive in this role. You will contribute directly to the growth and scaling of Rock IP, with opportunities for career advancement as the firm expands.
Key Responsibilities :
- Patent preparation and prosecution of high-quality patent applications across various technologies and industries (U.S., PCT, and International)
- Prepare, obtain, and analyze patent searches and provide thorough opinions on patentability, non-infringement, freedom to operate, and validity
- Manage multiple patent portfolios
- Develop clear strategies and recommendations throughout patent lifespan based on known client goals
- Collaborate with clients to learn, understand, and distill complex technologies and innovations into clear, value-driven patent applications, responses, and opinions
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail and commitment to top-quality work in all aspects of patent drafting, prosecution, and opinion work
- Maintain expertise in U.S. patent laws, regulations, and processes, and PCT regulations and processes; maintain working knowledge of global patent laws, regulations, and processes
- Establish and follow consistent processes to ensure efficient case management, adherence to deadlines, and client communication
- Work closely with the managing partner to grow and scale the firm, taking on greater responsibility as the firm expands
