Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for a part-time (20-30 hours a week) Shipping & Warehouse Associate. RIAC standard hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST.
The Shipping & Warehouse Associate is responsible for carefully preparing, packing, and shipping thousands of firearms, bladed weaponry, and military and historical collectibles after each auction. This vital role works with care and caution to ensure clients receive auction items in the exact condition upon purchase.
What does a typical day look like?
Shipping & Warehouse Associate can expect the following:
- Post-auction, will spend 90% of your day shipping items to winning bidders. Must handle all collectibles carefully and in a respectful manner. Will build custom crates, as needed, for shipping.
- Move inventory to various locations in our 86,000 square foot facility.
- Responsible for creating floor layout and displays for auction set-up through moving, lifting and shifting firearms and display racks into place.
- Required to work six (6) Auction weekends per year and at least two Saturdays following each auction for packing and pickups. Must act as part of a large team on Auction weekends to swiftly and efficiently tear down and move inventory and displays to create new spaces for check-out. Also serve as security to consigned items.
- General labor and some warehouse maintenance required, such as painting, cleaning, sweeping, organizing and taking inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates meet the following requirements:
- Ability to work in a safe manner
- Must have positive attitude and be highly motivated
- Strong attention to detail and keen organizational skills
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Ability to work overtime hours and six (6) auction weekends per year
- Ability to obtain and maintain active FOID card status (Illinois residents only).
Physical Requirements
Routinely moving and transporting up to 50 pounds. Traversing and moving for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain moving and transporting consignor items. Must be able to constantly communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, observe, perceive and assess shipping production operations. Constantly operates and uses computer and other relevant equipment and machinery. Constantly works with and around firearms, bladed weaponry, and valuable collectibles.
