- Implements strategies that motivate and encourage students to succeed and stay in school
- Collaborates with administrators to evaluate teacher performance and performs other supervisory duties as needed by the principal
- Works collaboratively with the HS Principal and builds positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Counsels students regarding personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, social and recreational activities
- Develops and implements student personnel policies
- Advises staff members on issues relating to policy, program, and administration
- Assists in maintaining discipline and attendance among students
- Investigate, adjudicate, and monitor infractions of the school code in the form of progressive discipline such as detentions, classroom referrals, and suspensions

- Reviews student reports requiring disciplinary action and determines if recommendations align with RIMSD policies.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the High School Principal, the High School Dean of students promotes students' academic progress, ensures good attendance rates, school safety, and the prevention of campus violence. Additionally, they support the teaching staff by developing classroom management programs, identifying students with attendance issues or disciplinary problems, and addressing issues with parents to create a positive outcome. Finally, they establish development plans and evaluate the effectiveness of those programs.
