Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining and repairing diesel engines, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service. This role requires hands-on experience with various types of diesel equipment, including tractor-trailers, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in Chattanooga, TN but will need to travel within the Greater Chattanooga and Dalton areas to provide service to our clients. No overnights, no Sundays, Saturdays are pre-scheduled. With hourly pay, commission, and production pay all of our techs well over $1,000 per week.
Duties
- The position is for on-site repairs of tires, brakes, wheel seals, air leaks, coolant issues, and basic road calls. At shop capabilities to pull transmissions would be a plus.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
- Fabricate and weld components as necessary to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- Operate forklifts and other machinery safely while performing tasks.
- Assist in heavy lifting and moving of equipment as required.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
Requirements
- 2 Years experience in class 8.
- Proven experience as a Service Technician or similar role, specifically with diesel engines.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Proficiency in soldering, welding, and fabricating parts for repairs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed.
- Ability to change tractor-trailer tires.
- Experience working with tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles and machines is preferred.
- Willingness to dig into complex mechanical issues and find effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
- Certifications related to diesel technology are a plus.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- A 3-to-5-year motor vehicle record is required.
- Must have your own tools.
- CDL's are a plus for test driving and/ or transporting.
