Rock Supremacy LLC, founded in 2011, is a heavy civil construction company and an industry leader in Rockfall Mitigation, Slope Stabilization, and Tunnel Rehab. We work nationwide, with headquarters in Kingsport, TN, and Bend, OR.

We are currently seeking an Estimator for our Kingsport, TN Headquarters. The responsibilities of the Estimator include, but are not limited to:

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assess and comprehend RFPs, construction specifications and drawings, and supporting documents
• Some travel to attend pre-bid meetings and/or site visits
• Prepare material, labor, and equipment cost estimates
• Participate in developing competitive technical and construction approaches
• Develop a detailed basis of estimate with production rates, durations, and sequencing
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs
• Solicitation of quotes for material, equipment, and subcontractors
• Calculate production rates of needed labor, equipment, and materials
• Participate in bid reviews
• Organize and compile cost estimating documentation to support field construction execution

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (preferred, but not required)
• 3-5 years experience estimating in Heavy Civil construction preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and balance multiple projects at once
• Team-player with strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to clients
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, vendors, both individually and in front of a group
• Good reasoning ability and decision-making skills.
• Field experience preferred
• Some travel required
• AutoCAD, Microsoft Projects experience is a plus but not required

Physical Demands: The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual requirements of this position will vary.

• Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, vendors, both individually and in front of a group
• Regular use of the phone, email, text, teams, and computer for communication
• Sitting for an extended period of time
• Some heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects may be required.
• Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to safely travel by air, car, train or bus

Primarily an office position. At time travel to offices or projects in various locations around the country may be required. The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with site visits:

• Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.
• When on project sites or if performing some types of work activity wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel-toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel.

Work Environment

The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting and occasionally outdoors at construction sites. Initially, this will be a remote position. Upon completion of our new shop and office, the job will become an in-person role.
