Job Summary
Teach assigned classes and perform activities related to classroom instruction. Ability to teach in person is preferred, but online options may be available after completing training and credentialing requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
- Teaching : Instruct students in introductory atmospheric science classes. Meet classes at assigned times.
- Course Preparation : Select appropriate texts and teaching materials. Prepare and deliver lectures, assignments, and assessments that align with course objectives and learning outcomes. Keep informed on the latest research and journal articles.
- Student Engagement : Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and engagement. Provide availability for student interaction before and after class.(1 hour weekly minimum per 3 credit hours)
- Assessment and Feedback : Evaluate student performance through a variety of assessment methods. Provide constructive feedback to support student improvement. Utilize Rock Valley College’s chosen Learning Management System (LMS) for all grading, assignments, communication, and student records. Prepare course / class reports as required.
- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the department’s initiatives and activities. Attend college meetings when available (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
- Compliance : Adhere to college policies, procedures, and academic standards. Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and any and policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College
