Position Overview:
The Human Resources Assistant supports the Human Resources Director in all areas of HR, including recruitment, file maintenance, scheduling, and compliance. Due to the sensitive nature of HR functions, this position requires strict adherence to confidentiality. The HR Assistant ensures compliance with federal and state employment regulations while fostering an efficient and supportive work environment.Primary Responsibilities:
General HR Functions
- Administrative and Compliance Support
- Assist with coordinating HR policies, processes, and relevant documentation
- Ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations
- Maintain effective communication systems to update staff on personnel policy changes
Recruitment and Hiring
- Create and distribute internal and external job postings promptly
- Maintain and update the ATS (applicant tracking system)
- Conduct applicant screenings, reference checks, and Conduct background checks
- Attend job fairs and recruitment events to attract candidates
- Coordinate candidate communications, including phone screenings and interview scheduling
- Recommend hiring decisions to the HR Director
- Maintain employment requisition files and provide status updates on staffing needs
- Ensure employees have up-to-date signed job descriptions on file
- Audit personnel files per established schedules
Perform other general HR-related duties as assigned, following the direction and guidance of the HR Director, ensuring support for departmental goals and adherence to organizational priorities.
Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge, including:- Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of administrative or clerical experience (preferred)
