The Program Coordinator supports the Federal Program Director by developing and coordinating reentry programs that ensure continuity of care for residents, including those with special needs such as sex offenders, individuals with medical or mental health needs, and female offenders. The role involves collaborating with contractors, maintaining documentation, attending required meetings, and ensuring compliance with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Statement of Work (SOW) and internal policies.
Primary Responsibilities
Reentry Programming:
- Develop and coordinate reentry programs for residents with special needs (e.g., sex offenders, medical and mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and female-specific programs).
- Serve as the liaison between internal and external service providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Act as the Pre-Certification Specialist for BOP clients requiring medical, dental, vision, mental health, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), and sex offender services.
- Verify the accuracy of medical bills and submit them to the Finance Department or BOP promptly.
- Conduct resident intakes within seven days of arrival, gathering necessary medical and personal information.
- Collaborate with the Employment Placement Specialist and Federal Case Manager to develop and maintain IPPs.
- Establish regular communication with internal and external professionals to ensure quality care.
- Participate in weekly PRT meetings and monthly clinical staffing to share observations and consult on resident care.
- Facilitate referrals to external agencies for services beyond RVCP’s offerings.
- Provide input and guidance on documents such as IPPs, exit plans, incident reports, and termination requests.
- Maintain up-to-date records of residents’ medical and appointment statuses for reporting and billing purposes.
- Conduct facility searches, pat searches, and vehicle checks as needed.
- Attend meetings, including Director and CDC (Center Discipline Committee) investigations.
- Assist in PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) investigations.
- Support the Residential Program Director with referrals, census updates, and BOP communications.
- Provide coverage for the Program Support Specialist as needed.
- Ensure residents’ accountability and compliance with program requirements.
- Perform GPS checks and conduct urine and breathalyzer screenings (UA/BA), ensuring same-gender staff conduct screenings.
- A four-year social or behavioral science degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Equivalent work experience may substitute for academic education, with five years of work experience in a related field required in lieu of a degree.
- At least one year of relevant experience in social services is required.
- Certification (or ability to be certified) in Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, First Aid and Choking, CPR, AED, Narcan, and Medication Administration.
- Familiarity with the Federal Statement of Work (SOW) and CBRF licensing requirements.
- Understanding of Residential Services Department policies, procedures, and client rules.
- Knowledge of community resources and their application in the criminal justice system.
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Capacity to secure federal and state clearances for working with residents.
- Successfully complete state and federal background checks.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment physical, urine drug test, and TB test.
