Department: Health Information Management
Description: The HIM Director is responsible for leading Rockcastle Regionals Health Information department functions including coding, transcription and release of information areas. HIM Director is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, staffing and development and ensuring that all areas run smoothly and meet required deadlines.
The HIM Director is responsible for management of all protected Health Information and processing to electronic storage in the electronic medical record. Director is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations as well as all hospital policies.
The Director will be expected to maintain a positive and professional relationship with all departments and providers within the organization. They must be able to perform multiple tasks and use excellent problem-solving skills in order to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Completing Annual KHA survey for facility
- Quarterly Kentucky state reporting submission
- Provide reporting for cancer registrar for facility
- Provide monthly statistics for facility
- HIM functionality / implementation within EHR
- All day-to-day operations and other job duties
Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in HIM related field or equivalent education and experience is required. Certification as RHIA or RHIT is required.
