Job Summary
The employee in this class is responsible for overseeing and managing the general operations of the warehouse and its staff; which includes handling of the recording and maintaining of inventory, advising the imports received and items exported; performing clerical and physical labor tasks in the warehouse that houses the supplies for the collections/distribution division of the Water Resources Department. Employee must track the location and level of supply items, disbursing supplies, maintaining inventory levels, soliciting purchase bids, train new workers, and ensure their performance meets and/or exceeds division expectations. This role will also implement and oversee production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards for the warehouse staff.

Achieve high levels of client and vendor satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching, and assuring quality of goods.
Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees' performance; staffing levels and assign workload, communicate job expectations, and train employees.
Responsible for the overall organization and maintenance of the inventory and storage area. Ensure shipments' and inventory transactions' accuracy; manages shipments to ensure quality.
Maintain items record, document necessary information, and utilize reports to project warehouse status.
Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
Prepares requisitions for supplies and materials; researches and submits quotes to purchasing for approval.
Maintains parts/supplies inventory; tracks stock levels and location by utilizing inventory software. Receives, disburses, and stocks parts and supplies; delivers supplies to the job site as necessary.
Operates a forklift to load, move, and unload heavy materials. Performs routine checks of equipment for necessary repairs.
Interface with customers and vendors to answer questions or solve problems; receives and responds to requests in-person, over the phone, and on the two-way radio.
Essential Functions (continued}
Serves as main point of contact for facility's building maintenance and coordinates with vendors to secure necessary repair services.
Serves as main point of contact between the County's fleet maintenance staff and the Water Resources Department regarding vehicle repairs; continuously updates department supervisors on the status of repairs.
Additional Duties: Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of inventory control, purchasing and materials used in water and wastewater services.
Knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency; ability to input, retrieve and analyze data.
Knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of State of Georgia Motor Vehicle laws.
Knowledge of the geographical layout of Rockdale County and Its departments building locations.
Knowledge of the materials, methods, and techniques commonly used in construction, maintenance, and repair activities as related to assigned areas of specialization.
Knowledge of Water Resources Department accounting and purchasing procedures and policies. Skill in the use of inventory control software.
Skill in oral and written communications; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Skill in using independent judgment and discretion. Skill in organization and time management.
Ability to direct and coordinate operations, effective supervisory skills, and techniques.
Ability to stand for long periods, walk over rough, uneven surfaces, and to bend, crouch, stoop and reach on a repetitive basis.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, other County employees, and the general public; must have effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift more than 60 pounds.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a warehouse but also Includes outdoor work. Outdoor work activities may involve moderate risks, discomfort, or unpleasantnesssuch as a high level of noise; dusty, greasy, or muddy conditions; exposure to moving vehicles or machines; heat and humidity; cold and/or wet weather.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible warehouse or inventory control experience where a wide variety of materials, tools, supplies, and equipment are dispensed; including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- OR have a combination of education, training, and experience that is equivalent to #1 and #2 above that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- Forklift operator certification.
- Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
Preferred
- Warehouse or inventory control experience in the water/sewer supply field.
