Job Summary
The Master Scheduler leads the development and execution of the master production schedule for a contract manufacturing environment, ensuring alignment between customer demand, production capacity, and material availability. This role is critical to maintaining operational efficiency, meeting contractual deadlines, and exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Master Scheduling:
- Create and maintain the master production schedule based on customer demand forecasts and confirmed orders.
- Balance production capacity, material availability, and labor resources to develop feasible schedules.
Capacity Analysis:
- Identify and analyze resource constraints, including equipment, labor, and materials.
- Recommend solutions to optimize production capacity and minimize bottlenecks.
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive scheduling process improvements, leveraging lean manufacturing principles and advanced planning tools.
- Implement strategies to reduce lead times, improve on-time delivery, and optimize resource utilization.
ERP and Reporting:
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to develop data-driven scheduling models and maintain accurate records.
- Generate and present reports on production performance, capacity utilization, and delivery metrics.
Team Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional scheduling meetings to address conflicts, prioritize production, and support company objectives.
- Act as a key liaison between production, supply chain, engineering, and quality teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business.
- 5 years of experience in production scheduling, preferably within contract manufacturing.
- Expertise in ERP/MRP systems and advanced planning tools.
- Strong understanding of contract manufacturing processes, including customer-owned and consignment inventory.
- Proven ability to manage complex scheduling scenarios and resolve bottlenecks effectively.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- APICS certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.
