Description : Summary / Objective
The Quality Technician, in support of and under the direction of the Quality Engineer and / or Manager, analyzes and solves quality problems, develops CMM programs, prepares inspection plans and instructions, selects sampling plan applications, prepares procedures, trains inspectors, performs audits, analyzes quality data, and applies fundamental statistical methods for process control.
Essential Functions

1. Proficiently program and operate CMM to ensure accurate product measurements and compliance with quality standards.
2. Perform product inspections and testing to meet customer and RBS quality specifications, generating quality documents such as inspection reports, certificates of conformance, and material certification packets for customers.
3. Maintain the instrument calibration system (e.g., Gagetrack), ensuring all instruments are calibrated, documented, and maintained according to established procedures.
4. Support the scrap / re-work process for discrepant products, ensuring proper documentation and corrective action implementation.
5. Conduct gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) studies as necessary.
6. Support ISO Quality System requirements and assist in conducting process audits to ensure compliance.
7. Maintain the corrective action log and database, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of corrective actions.
8. Facilitate the movement of parts and components as required, utilizing appropriate mobility tools, including manual handling, carts, and powered lift trucks.
9. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
10. Any / all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds and seldom lifting to 75lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and / or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 1st shift position with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 6 : 30 AM - 3 : 00 PM (8 hours / day). Occasional overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required to meet business needs.
Compensation
Our current hiring pay range for this position is $25-$36.25. This hiring pay range is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills and certifications.
In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Currently, this position is classified as a Quarterly Bonus within the Individual Contributor tier.

Requirements :
Required Education and Experience
1. Must be 18 years or older.
2. High School Diploma / GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
3. 2-6 years of experience within quality control in a manufacturing environment practicing ISO 9001.
4. 2-3 years of experience with CMM operation (Zeiss hardware and / or Calypso Software preferred)
5. Average level of computer literacy, specifically Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
6. Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, gages, etc.
7. Capable of using all required hand tools.
8. Ability to read / write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Proficient use of Coordinating Measuring Machine (CMM), optical comparators and other tools and equipment used to inspect.
2. Associate's Degree in Quality Assurance or a related industrial program.
3. Certification in metal trades industry or Quality Control.
4. Maintenance of Gage Calibration.
5. Control of monitoring and measuring devices.
6. Understanding and application of SPC techniques.
