Wage: $16.00/hour
Position Overview: The Museum Program Facilitator assists the Museum Program and Makerspace Manager in implementing education programs and activities both in the museum and the makerspace. This position reports to the Museum Program and Makerspace Manager. This is a part-time position. Schedule will require weekend availability, occasional evening events, and potential additional hours during the summer months.
Discovery Center: Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois is dedicated to hands-on learning in the arts and sciences through more than 300 exciting exhibits spread over two floors and an award winning outdoor Discovery Park. We serve children, parents, and educators from the Rockford region and beyond through both Museum visits and outreach programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate museum programs under the direction of the Museum Program and Makerspace (MPM) Manager

Be the lead back-up staff person for the makerspace which includes interacting with families, assisting with projects, keeping the space stocked and clean, and ensuring it is safe and well-maintained

Assist with training Discovery Guides on any museum programs including demonstrations, planetarium shows, and other programs that are developed

Work with the MPM Manager to develop programs and projects for the museum and makerspace with a focus on ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and educational

Provide program feedback and recommendations to the MPM Manager
- Provide material purchase needs and assist with inventory; keep the MPM Manager apprised of any potential repairs or needs the Makerspace may require

This position requires the ability to stand and walk on the museum floor all-day long, maintaining friendly and courteous interactions with museum staff and visitors in a moderately noisy environment. This position requires bending, occasional lifting from floor to waist, reaching at shoulder height, and occasional reaching above shoulder height to access supplies. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 40 lbs.
