ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Operational Excellence
- Receives and completes daily work orders as directed.
- Performs maintenance duties to the buildings, grounds, and equipment according to required specifications for safety and appearance.
- Performs routine cleaning of building, floors, windows, restrooms, carpets, trash removal, grounds, sidewalks, and trash pick-up
- Maintains the park area by trimming trees, clearing brush and landscaping the property as required.
- Effectively and safely operates pole saw, table saws, band saws, drills, string trimmers, landscape blowers and other hand tools as required to get the job done.
- Basic painting including picnic tables, trash cans and shelters
- Ensures that all work performed is conducted in a safe and timely manner adhering to standards of cleanliness and effective equipment utilization.
- Utilize the Rockford Park District's HRIS system for all HR and payroll-related requirements and to accurately clock in and out for all shifts.
- Assists with delivery of supplies to various buildings
- Become thoroughly familiar with the Safety Manual contents.
- Performs frequent routine safety checks on buildings, grounds, and equipment; files safety reports as required.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and departmental - specific safety rules.
- Inspect work areas (use checklists) for compliance with safe work practices and rules.
High School Diploma or GED

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Ability to follow direction from Maintenance Supervisor
- Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations
- Ability to provide customers with expert care, sensitive consideration and efficient service.
- Good communication skills including expressive, written, and receptive.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (can be obtained through the Rockford Park District)
- Reliable transportation to and from work
