Junior Varsity Girls Golf Head Coach

Summary of the Junior Varsity Girls Golf Coaching Position:
Under the supervision of the East Grand Rapids High School Athletic Director and the head golf coach, the junior varsity girls golf coach is responsible for the duties assigned by the head golf coach. The coach will develop individual and team skills and continue to build upon the “Tradition of Excellence” of the East Grand Rapids athletic program. The coach will work in collaboration with the head golf coach to build fundamental skills and prepare junior varsity athletes for varsity competition.

Essential Functions and Qualifications:

• Ability to effectively communicate and implement a program that fulfills the role of interscholastic athletics in a high school setting
• Ability to lead by example and develop professional, yet meaningful relationships with all stakeholders
• Willingness to implement and sustain a culture of success and accountability that places student development and sportsmanship at the forefront of the program
• Ability to work cooperatively with players, parents, boosters, fans, and the media
• Ability to plan and implement practices that build fundamental skills, and demonstrate an ability to adapt practices and drills to fit the differing levels of abilities of student-athletes and teams
• Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
• Ability to encourage student-athletes to participate in golf and advocate for the continued growth of the program throughout the community
• Willingness to work cooperatively with strength and conditioning coaches to implement an in-season training program
• Willingness and ability to encourage student-athletes to participate in multiple sports/extracurricular activities
• Ability to provide direct supervision of student-athletes
• Ability to maintain inventory, storage of equipment, and the care of facilities
• Willingness to adhere to the processes and procedures as outlined in the East Grand Rapids Coaches handbook
• High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.)
• Successful golf coaching experience or college coaching/playing experience (preferred)
• Willingness to have a flexible time commitment
• Knowledge of MHSAA rules and regulations
• CPR/AED certification
• First aid knowledge (preferred) Reports To: Athletic Director

Rate: Per Contract
Start Date: August 11, 2025
Duration: 1 Year (Renewable based on recommendation of the Athletic Director)
