What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Coach position at Rockford Riptide Swim Club?
Overview:
The primary goal of the Rockford Riptide Assistant Coach is to prepare and support Riptide swimmers (Junior level and USA level) in their journey of competitive swimming. The assistant coach for the Rockford Riptide Swim Team leads swimmers’ development in starts, turns and finishes, and all four competitive strokes. This individual will work with Rockford Riptide’s head coach and Riptide USA coaching staff in the intentional design of programs and workouts, is actively engaged at swim meets, and will continually assess incoming and current swimmers.
Responsibilities:
- Create a positive training environment for all swimmers
- Demonstrated ability to work well and communicate effectively with swimmers of all ages/abilities, staff, and administrators
- Collaborate with the Head Coach in creating seasonal plans and daily workout plans for the assigned coaching groups. Will review training plans and swimmers’ progress
- Works with swimmers during practices to provide positive, meaningful, and constructive feedback
- Provide a solid understanding of swimming biomechanics, dryland training, including progression training, drill and clinic style teaching
- Be actively engaged at assigned swim meets. Lead meet warm-ups, assist swimmers with getting to correct lane, provide positive, meaningful, and constructive feedback to swimmers during the meet.
- Assists with team hosted events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous competitive swim coaching experience (2 years) desired
Fall/Winter/Spring: Monday - Friday evening availability and some weekends. Summer AM/PM availability and some weekends. Expected 20 hours/week, acknowledging variance in season and meet schedule.
