What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Material Handler position at Rockford Specialties?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Make deliveries and pickups in a 24' box truck, both locally and regionally, but not overnight. Assist with facilitating the flow of incoming and outgoing material through the Shipping and Receiving Department in a safe, organized and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make deliveries locally and regionally
- Safely operate forklift truck (with certification)
- Load and unload trucks
- Pick, pull, and place product in storage
- Perform inspection of incoming material to make sure it is appropriate to receive
- Keep storage areas organized and accessible
- Assist with written and computerized documentation in the Shipping and Receiving Department, as assigned
- Adhere to Company policies as described in employee handbook
- Follow all procedures and quality standards as they pertain to this position
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment
- Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in driving a box truck, material handling and forklift truck driving strongly preferred; computer skills are a plus. Must maintain a Class C license or better.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
