This position will have responsibility for the Universitys services and programs related to residential living and other auxiliary programs including, but not limited to, dining, conference services, bookstore, and vending. The role will entail organizational and event planning, staff and community development, and management of specific area-related facilities and budget lines. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing inspirational supervisory leadership to the Residence Life Team through role-modeling, active coaching, engagement, development, and support to this team.
- Facilitate the residential living experience of students and oversee the experience of Conference Services guests. This includes strategic planning and implementation for facilities, budget, staffing, and related programs/initiatives.
- Provide oversight and direction for the Code of Conduct process. Conduct individual and committee student hearings that lead to fair and reasonable decisions, and educational, developmental, and restorative outcomes where applicable.
- Create and implement programs to promote healthy intra- and inter-personal decisions.
- Regularly collaborate with University vendors.
- Track the fiscal operations for Student Development to include budget monitoring, revenue generation, and fiscal guidance to departmental directors.
- Collaborate with constituents inside and outside of the university on events, agreements, projects, and programs designed to enhance the student experience and sustain/enhance a sense of belonging and engagement for all students of diverse backgrounds.
- Assume leadership of the department in the absence of the Vice President; provide on-call services in a rotation with other Residence Life staff and assist in the response to emergencies and crises.
- Participate in and contribute to other departmental and University events and activities; assume other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Masters degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field of student development; doctoral or other terminal degree preferred.
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in Residence Life and/or related fields while supervising full-time professionals; experience in working with other auxiliaries preferred.
- Experience in major event as well as time-extended program planning and implementation.
- Experience in designing, coordinating, and implementing educational programs.
- Experience in student leadership development and advising students.
- Supervisory experience with demonstrated staff management and leadership skills.
- Experience with operational budget and project management; experience with residential renovation and development preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products; ability to use Banner, ERezLife, and Maxient preferred.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in writing and verbally, particularly in situations that may be stressful and/or complicated.
- Valid drivers license is required.
- Availability to work periodic evening and weekend hours, and to travel for occasional conferences and recruitment trips.
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities for oneself and to provide oversight/support for others.
