Description
Position Overview: As an Animal Feed Nutritionist, you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing animal feed formulations. You will work closely with veterinarians, livestock producers, and feed manufacturers to ensure nutritional requirements are met for various species. Your expertise will contribute to improving animal health, productivity, and overall farm profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nutritional Analysis: Conduct research on nutritional requirements for different animal species and life stages.
- Formulation Development: Design and formulate balanced feed rations that meet the specific dietary needs of animals and follow USDA regulations for medications.
- Quality Control: Monitor and evaluate feed quality and ingredient composition, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including full documentation.
- Safe feed/Safe Food Certification: Help maintain standards required for AFIA Certification
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to clients and sales teams regarding product usage and animal nutrition.
- Research Collaboration: Collaborate with research teams to conduct studies on feed efficiency, digestibility, and animal performance.
- Education and Training: Develop training materials and conduct workshops or seminars for clients and industry stakeholders.
- Market Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, nutritional advancements, and regulatory changes affecting animal feed.
- Sales: Work with new Customers to expand business
- Veterinary Feed Directives: Consult with Veterinarians to maintain a current VFD on required Medications
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in animal nutrition, feed formulation, or related areas.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of animal nutrition principles, feed ingredients, and formulation software.
- Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and proficiency in data analysis.
- Certification: PCQ- required, or willing to acquire. Certification from relevant professional organizations (e.g., American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists) is a plus.
