SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Environmental Services Technician assists the Environmental Services Supervisor with daily department needs, while primarily performing the daily functions of a Floor Maintenance Operator. This includes ensuring the protection and preservation of floor surfaces to maintain appropriate appearance and cleanliness in the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Assisted Living Community.The Environmental Services Team at Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is committed to providing residents, clients, visitors, and employees with a safe and clean environment. The Environmental Services Technician assists with receiving/delivering all supplies for the department, scheduling stripping and waxing duties along with daily floor buffing assignments, monitoring the safety and cleanliness of housekeepers/laundry aides/floor maintenance operators to ensure all health and safety regulations/rules/procedures are followed, leading/training the housekeepers/laundry aides/floor maintenance operators, and providing support to the department for coverage needs (including assuming the responsibility of the Environmental Services Supervisor in their absence). The Environmental Services Technician also utilizes proper procedures, equipment, and cleaning chemicals to clean, strip, and wax floors in all areas of the Nursing Home and Assisted Living Community to include common areas, offices, and resident rooms. Other aspects of this position may include setting up rooms for meetings/functions (including audio-visual equipment), replacing lightbulbs, transporting trash to disposal areas, power washing wheelchairs, fueling county vehicles, scrubbing the cook line in the cafeteria weekly, moving resident beds, and moving office furnishings/resident furniture as needed. Due to the nature of this position, the Environmental Services Technician needs to occasionally move 100 pounds with the use of assistive devices and frequently move up to 50 pounds.

- High School Diploma or GED; and
- At least one (1) year of experience in a lead role; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
