What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Underwriting Manager position at Rockland Federal Credit Union?
Reporting to the SVP of Residential Lending, responsible for the oversight and leadership of the residential underwriting team, ensuring sound, compliant underwriting decisions for all loans while maintaining adherence to RFCU policies and best practices and secondary market investor guidelines.
- Oversees the underwriting staff, including the recruitment, onboarding, and professional growth of the team, fostering a high-performing team culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Drives team success through structured performance management, including annual reviews, goal setting, and consistent one-on-one coaching and team development meetings.
- Proactively assess team capabilities, identifying skills gaps, and implements targeted training and professional development programs to support staff advancement and skills enhancement.
- Underwrites residential loans, including complex transactions, ensuring compliance with Rockland Federal Credit Union (RFCU) portfolio and secondary market guidelines, utilizing both automated and manual underwriting methods to evaluate creditworthiness and loan eligibility.
- Submits loan files through Desktop Underwriter (DU), Mortgage Insurance (MI) systems, MassHousing, and other automated underwriting platforms.
- Ensures all financial and collateral documentation meets applicable regulations and investor guidelines.
- Maintains loan authority and issue loan commitment letters in accordance with credit union policies.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to high school diploma.
- Minimum 7 years of residential mortgage loan underwriting experience.
- 3 years of management experience.
- Ability to perform work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Encompass LOS experience preferred.
Schedule: Full Time 40 Hours/ Week
