What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP / Commercial Business Development Officer position at Rockland Federal Credit Union?
Under the direction of the VP/Commercial Lending, responsible for originating and servicing commercial and business loans, including SBA loans, while promoting new business lending and deposit growth, and serving as the primary relationship manager for commercial borrowers to ensure superior member service and the growth of the Credit Union's commercial lending portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Develops new business by evaluating prospective industries and new and existing relationships, ensuring alignment with Credit Union goals and objectives. Proactively targets, develops and maintains commercial account loan and deposit relationships through prospecting and consulting with new and existing members. Develops new leads through cold calling, creation of referral network, and working with individual branches for internal referrals on prospective accounts.
- Completes loan application packages, consulting with existing and prospective members to determine financial needs, collecting necessary loan application information and advising on the selection of appropriate commercial or business loan product. Reviews commercial loan applications and supporting financial statements to determine borrowing capacity, capitalization and cash flow dynamics. Prepares preliminary loan officer summary and loan documentation package.
- Liaisons with members keeping them informed of product services and changes. Serves as the first point of contact regarding member concerns, working with the Commercial Lending ream to resolve issues promptly and effectively. Promotes a positive team environment by maintaining ongoing communication.
- Assists in managing the commercial loan portfolio. Reviews loan performance, completes site visits and assists in the collection of documentation for annual financial review. Maintains continuing contact with the Credit Union's commercial loan account relationships. Required to make regular, in-person site visits, both scheduled and unscheduled. Monitors portfolio performance and takes action to ensure compliance with goals and standards for watch list credits, charge offs, loan documentation and loan servicing exceptions.
- Participates in community, civic and business activities to promote the image of the credit union and to develop new business. Participates and assists in the coordination of internal and external business services seminars.
- Liaisons with the Community Development Officer, maintaining a productive working relationship by providing coaching and mentorship on sales and business development activities. Coordinates and conducts joint sales calls with Community Development Officer and branch staff. Works with organizational partners and other corporate divisions, bringing sales partners into client relationships as needed to manage the total financial services relationship for members and prospects.
- Ensures all Credit Union policies and procedures, state and federal law and regulations are being adhered to, including those related to confidentiality of member information. Complies with all Fair Lending requirements when assisting members with selecting the appropriate products to best meet their business needs.
- Maintains working knowledge of credit union products and services and seeks opportunities to sell and cross-sell to increase member base, deposits and lending relationships.
- Attends training on new products, laws and regulations and software updates. Attends educational seminars to stay abreast of industry changes. May be required to maintain NMLS credentials and complete annual MLO training to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience, with at least three years of experience within the financial industry, preferably in a credit union environment.
- Extensive knowledge of the commercial lending industry including CRE Construction, C&I, and Specialty Lending.
- Strong sales management and business development skills with the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the capability to develop thorough knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with members and staff at all levels of the organization
