Position Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within a well-established legal funding company and play a pivotal role in optimizing lien resolution strategies. Rockpoint Legal Funding is looking for a skilled and results-driven Senior Lien Negotiator to help maximize case settlements and strengthen our relationships with law firms and medical providers.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in personal injury lien negotiations, understands the complexities of medical billing and settlement disbursements, and can effectively advocate for reductions that benefit all parties.


The Senior Lien Negotiator will be responsible for negotiating medical liens, analyzing settlement structures, and developing strategies to optimize reductions. This role requires strong collaboration with attorneys, providers, and internal teams to ensure efficient, fair, and timely resolutions. If you’re an experienced negotiator ready to make a significant impact in the legal funding industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Collect information on the settlement of a case for all reduction requests and evaluate payment histories of an account to determine a solution to the request.
  • Negotiate medical liens and funding payoffs with healthcare providers, lien holders, and attorneys to maximize client settlements.
  • Local travel to law firms around Southern California to build relationships and negotiate liens.
  • Review case details and medical bills to assess lien validity and identify opportunities for reductions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law firms, medical providers, and third-party funders to facilitate successful negotiations.
  • Analyze and interpret settlement documents, medical records, and lien agreements to ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
  • Develop strategies to optimize lien resolution, considering case factors, jurisdictional rules, and provider-specific policies.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and settlement coordinators to coordinate disbursement and ensure timely resolution of liens.
  • Track and report negotiation outcomes, trends, and key performance metrics to improve the efficiency of lien resolution processes.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, case law, and best practices related to personal injury settlements and medical liens.


Qualifications:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • 5 years of experience in lien negotiation, settlement disbursement, or personal injury case management (e.g., at a personal injury law firm, legal funding company, or healthcare lien resolution firm).
  • Strong understanding of personal injury settlements, medical billing, and lien resolution strategies.
  • Proven experience in negotiating significant lien reductions and managing complex cases.
  • Familiarity with medical liens is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and advocate effectively.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret settlement agreements.
  • Highly analytical mindset, with experience using CRM tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage conflict effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Positive attitude, team player, and strong work ethic.

Compensation:

$75,000 - $95,000 USD Per Year
