Location: Field Office / Various Well Sites in Allegheny and Washington Counties, PA
Employment Type: Trial-to-Hire (Full-Time Upon Successful Completion)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary:

The Pumper is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing oil and natural gas well production across multiple locations. This position requires fieldwork under varying environmental conditions to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Well Monitoring & Maintenance:
  • Gauge and record wellhead pressures.
  • Measure and document tank levels using standardized tank strapping methods.
  • Read and document meter readings and production figures.
  • Monitor and maintain Pump Jack and Plunger Lift systems.
  • Conduct routine pipeline walk-throughs to inspect for leaks or damage.
  • Perform general site maintenance, including mowing, trash removal, and clearing access roads of hazards.
  • Production Tracking & Reporting:
  • Maintain daily records of production activities and report anomalies.
  • Track oil production and complete weekly reports.
  • Change pressure charts monthly or as required.
  • Coordinate oil hauls with vacuum truck drivers and monitor tank battery fluid levels.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Monitor tank batteries and well sites for spills, leaks, or environmental hazards.
  • Report any identified safety concerns to the Production Superintendent.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain all required documentation in a clear, legible, and timely manner (e.g., production reports, swab reports, plate changes).
  • Emergency & On-Call Responsibilities:
  • Remain on-call 24/7 for emergency response and operational support.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance or safety concerns as required.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Previous experience in oil and gas operations is an asset but not required.
  • Technical & Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, charts, and technical data.
  • Proficiency in documenting work activities and completing reports accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of compressors, pipelines, and pump systems.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing field conditions and company protocols.

Physical & Functional Requirements:

This position involves physical labor in outdoor environments and requires:

  • Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and repetitive motions.
  • Good hearing and visual acuity for monitoring equipment and safety compliance.
  • Ability to drive long distances and work in adverse weather conditions.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

Trial-to-Hire Terms:

This position is designated as a trial-to-hire opportunity, meaning:

  • Initial employment is for a 90-day evaluation period.
  • Performance, reliability, and adherence to safety policies will be assessed.
  • Employees demonstrating satisfactory performance will be offered a permanent full-time role.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
