What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travelling Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at Rockstar Mechanics?
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic for an extensive travelling role. Tend to large equipment utilized at heavy excavation sites. This is project-based travel with jobs lasting six to eight months at one location before you are onto the next. Long hours, overtime, and a daily per diem is provided. Jobs are primarily based in the Midwest, Illinois, and Texas. Ideal if you have a camper. CDL B is needed for company service truck.
The Essentials:
- Maintaining heavy equipment at exciting job sites.
- Conducting on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and running repairs to keep equipment functional.
- Reporting to jobsite superintendent on daily maintenance priorities.
- Reporting to Equipment Manager on fleet status, costs and major concerns.
- Supporting best in class safety measures.
- Coordinating equipment shutdowns with management.
- Coordinating with shop foreman on diagnostics, major repairs and maintenance issues.
- Submitting timesheets and completing work orders.
Requirements:
- Able to travel to a job site and stay six to eight months until project is completed.
- Ability to travel to projects in Texas, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio (some in Michigan, Minnesota, Atlanta, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arizona and the Rocky Mountains).
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems in the field.
- CDL B for company service truck.
Compensation:
- $40.00 - $43.00/hour to start based on experience.
- $115.00 - $130.00 daily per diems.
- 68 hour work weeks.
