Job Summary
The Housing Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in securing stable housing. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, provide support through crisis situations, and facilitate access to housing resources. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in crisis management and social work, with a focus on motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in their housing journey.
Duties
- Prepare, print and mail recertification letters to clients
· Process initial, annual and interim recertification
· Verify income, assets and deductions
· Calculate family rental payments and Owner HAP Payments
· Run EIV reports
· Evaluate Background Checks
· Conduct Voucher briefings
· Assist in managing the waiting list
· Maintain orderly complete client files
· Input Data into Software System
· Prepare re-certification packages
· Process portability billing submissions and other tasks related to portability
· Communicate with landlords and participants as needed
· Manage workload, ensure all re-certifications are completed timely
· Review monthly recertification list with supervisor to ensure timely completion
· Ensure detailed notes are put into the system
· Assist with monthly HAP run
· Provide explanations of actions, and adjustments as required.
· Provide exemplary customer service
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong skills in crisis management and intervention techniques.
- Experience with motivational interviewing is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with property management practices and software such as Yardi is a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
