Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greets arriving patients & answer incoming calls in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
- Assesses whether patients have special or immediate needs and sees that these needs are met.
- Verifies insurance eligibility via patient’s insurance card and other ID.
- Generate patient prescription requests for electronic approval and transfer from Physician to pharmacy.
- Keeps desk, reception, and waiting area tidy and free from trash; redistributes waiting room reading materials; and disinfects surfaces daily.
- Other job duties may be assigned based on patient volume and needs of the practice.
- Able to perform but not limited to triage assessment of patient for visit. Takes and records vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse temperature, pulse ox), reason for visit and processing of pending orders in the electronic medical record.
- Assists physicians in all types of appointments (complete physical, PAP, ear lavages, rectal exams).
- Provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients during their office visit by communicating the status of their provider and step by step explanations of procedures that will be performed.
- Guides the patient through the appointment process answering any questions they may have.
- Performs the following procedures, ECGs, therapeutic soaks, bandaging, wound care, and oxygen application.
- Cleans and stocks exam rooms between daily appointments and at the end of the day.
- Phlebotomy experience required
The EMR that the practices uses is Athena.
