STARTING SALARY : $41,077

SUMMARY : The purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to ensure efficient processing of warrants. This is accomplished by coordinating workflow, performing data entry, maintaining databases, and responding to customer requests and inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains files; answers telephone and receives phone calls; schedules and coordinates work flow; review and responds to verbal and written inquiries; copies / scans / faxes as needed.
  • Receives warrants and updates databases with all required information; creates files for new active warrants; provides warrant information to dispatchers once the warrants have been entered into TLETS.
  • Generates, updates and maintains databases / spreadsheets on a daily basis; and communicates with employees, courts, and other agencies.
  • Communicates warrant details and updates to other departments as needed.
  • Communicates to other law enforcement agencies over the phone or in writing providing warrant service.
  • Verifies if individuals are currently in custody, transferred to another facility, bonded out or released for other reasons.
  • Verifies incarcerations for bonding companies for 17.16s
  • Maintains copies of 17.16s after filing and coordinating with the courts
  • Provides copies of District and County warrants to the Fugitive division.
  • Records and tracks letters sent attempting to locate wanted persons within other law enforcement jurisdictions for warrant service.
  • Generates checklists to District and County Clerks when sending warrants and other documents.
  • Provides customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Due diligence with District and County Clerks and District Attorney's Office regarding any status updates to misdemeanor and felony warrants.
  • Distributes incoming mail.

SUPERVISORY / BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory or budget responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of applicable State and Federal rules, codes and regulations and County policies and procedures.
  • Capable of working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of principles of records keeping, case files and records management; legal and law enforcement terminology.
  • Skill in explaining procedures and processes in a clear, concise and comprehensive manner to the public utilizing good customer service.
  • Skill in planning, prioritizing, and carrying out assignments with minimum supervision; demonstrating effective interpersonal relationships by assisting others in solving problems.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated to work alone and with others.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Computer experience; proficient in typing.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Position is located in an office environment with little or no exposure to environmental conditions. Health and safety hazards are minimal. No protective equipment is required. Fine dexterity, sitting, talking, hearing and vision are constantly required. Occasionally, walking, reaching and handling are required.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
