What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pest Control Advisor position at Rockwood Ag Services?
Overview:
Rockwood Ag Services is looking to add a Pest Control Advisor (PCA) to our growing team in Imperial Valley.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect farmer's fields for pests that can impact yield
- Identify pests that are present and the damage that they are causing
- Make recommendations on treatment plans based on findings
- Keep records and prepare reports for recommendations and pesticide use reports
- Work with farmers to conduct field trials in your territory, one per quarter or as assigned by manager
- Be knowledgeable of fertilizer formulations based on pesticide application and recommendations
- Be current and compliant with DPR license - PCA, QAL
Requirements:
· A bachelor's degree in agricultural related program such as agronomy or entomology
· Valid and current DPR License PCA, QAL. ASA-Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) -Preferred
· Ability to exercise effective judgement and creativity to changing needs and situations related to pest control
· Valid Driver License and good driving record is required. A company vehicle will be provided
· Proficient computer skills (able to use email, Microsoft Word & Excel), and math skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Conscientious and self-motivated; able to work without direct supervision.
· Must be reliable and a team player
· Must be able to read and adhere to procedures and policies
· Available to work extended hours to support busy season as require
· Working in hot, cold, and/or noisy industrial environment around moving machinery and chemicals with potential hazards present. PPE is supplied and required to be used.
