What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Facilities position at Rockwood School District?
The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Director of Facilities Services.
*Establishes priorities and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance, custodial and management of all buildings, grounds and equipment of the District.
*Serves as the District’s project manager for all new construction projects and facility renovations.
*Establishes standard operating procedures for the department to ensure effective and efficient daily operations, preventive maintenance schedules, timely responses to work orders, and project management.
*Reviews workload assignments and District's goals to ensure all plans to meet student and staff needs are being accomplished.
*Prepares and administrates the budget for the department, monitoring all accounts for compliance with District accounting practices.
*Organizes, implements and monitors the safety activities of all area supervisors and coordinators. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies involved with safe work environments.
*Ensures coordinators and supervisors are following District procedures, particularly in the area of personnel and purchasing.
*Reviews technical specifications prepared by the coordinators and makes recommendations for capital equipment purchases.
*Supervises recruiting, interviews, selection and hiring of candidates and provides final review of applicants for employment.
*Acts as liaison with all levels of management, the public and user groups such as students and community/parent organizations. Directs the purchasing, inventory control and general office management functions of Facilities Services.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS 1. Bachelor's degree (Business or Public Administration concentration preferred); or comparable levels of education combined with experience.
2. Background in technical and managerial areas of general maintenance, grounds and custodial functions.
3. Three to five years’ experience involving educational leadership, decision making, management, and long-range planning.
4. Knowledge of school systems and experience with these specialized functions.
5. Knowledge and experience in public relations.
6. Experience with designing and implementing professional development.
7. Demonstrated success at designing and maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.
