What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tier 1 Technology Support Specialist position at Rocky Hill Public Schools?
The Full-Time Technology Support Specialist I is a Tier 1 school-based position, providing support in multiple schools. Responsibilities include providing faculty, staff and students with daily technical support of computer hardware, software and related technology such as Chromebooks, LCD projectors, interactive displays, iPads, printers and peripherals. It is the goal of the Technology Support Specialist to support the use of technology in order to meet administrative and Instructional goals. The Technology Support Specialist will also be available to assist with district needs such as upgrades, deployments, installations and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work effectively independently and as a team member, sharing information and resources with other team members.
- Communicate effectively, with the public, school administrators, staff, contractors, and others.
- Previous experience providing support for current operating systems of Windows computers, iOS devices and other mobile devices is required. Chrome-based device experience is preferred.
- Experience in providing support for audio-visual and multimedia technology such as interactive displays, in a PreK-12 school system is preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Industry Standard technology-related certification (CompTIA A , etc) preferred.
- Degree, certificate or equivalent from a technical institute or college preferred.
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides effective and timely responses to resolve hardware and software problems that are entered in the district’s helpdesk system, escalating as necessary after confirming and troubleshooting issues.
- Provides support for classroom A/V technology and its integration with the classroom hardware for instruction.
- Maintains computers and equipment including installation, upgrade, imaging, and configuration changes as necessary.
- Provides information, collaborates and works with Tier II and other technology staff and vendors as necessary in order to troubleshoot and resolve technical support requests.
- Maintains the effectiveness, availability, reliability and security of staff and student data, computers, and related peripheral devices.
- Adheres to Technology Department and district policies.
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Technology
