What are the responsibilities and job description for the Whitewater Rafting Guide position at Rocky Mountain Adventures?
Ride the rapids and make it your job! Beginner and Experienced Guide positions are available for the 2025 summer season at our Fort Collins, Cache La Poudre River office. The inexperienced guide training class takes place May 12-23, 2025 and you must be able to attend the class start date.
Expectations
Being a raft guide is not just about taking people down the river. From general appearance to conduct with customers, there is a high level of professionalism that is expected from you at all times. You are a representative not only of yourself but of us as a company. Here at Rocky Mountain Adventures, we are a team and we expect all employees to work together to keep us looking the best we can to our customers. This means that all staff is required to help in general cleaning and care of equipment and all areas of the building and grounds.
It is necessary for guides to train and work throughout the season on a very flexible and highly available schedule. It is important that as you are learning a new skill that you devote as much time as possible to it. As a seasonal business, we depend on a short time span to support our business and staff, and we will ask for your commitment to help us in this endeavor. Keep in mind that the weekends and holidays are our busiest times, so availability throughout those times is an expectation of the position.
Certifications
The State of Colorado and Rocky Mountain Adventures have specific first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) requirements for commercial guides. You must meet these requirements in order to enroll in our Introductory Commercial Raft Guide training course. Copies of all certifications are due in our office by May 6. Feel free to please provide a copy here if applicable.
Inexperienced/Introductory Commercial Raft Guide Training Course
This course is required for raft guide candidates who have received a contingent job offer, but is also open to individuals who want to learn about guiding but not necessarily work as a commercial guide. Guide Course Start Date: May 13, 2024. More information on this course will be provided at a later time in the hiring process. Guide School Cost: $500 fees.

Hourly Payrate: $14.81-$15.81 client gratuity
