What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver position at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living?
JOB SUMMARY:
A person who is specifically trained, competent and performs assigned functions as a Caregiver in Rocky Mountain Assisted Living homes under the direction, instruction and supervision of Rocky Mountain Assisted Living House Manager, Wellness Director, Resident Care Coordinator and Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the elderly
2. Ability to carry our written and verbal directions and to read and write.
3. Current QMAP Certification
4. Current 1 st Aid Certification
5. 18 years of age or older
6. High School Diploma or GED
7. At least 1 year experience providing care to the elderly or persons with disabilities
LINE OF AUTHORITY:
Reports directly to House Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists residents with activities of daily living in accordance with resident’s care plan and RMAL policies and procedure.
2. Understands, adheres to, and promotes RMAL policies and procedures.
3. Understands, adheres to, and promotes Resident Rights
4. Administers routine and PRN medications in accordance with Colorado State Health Department regulations and Rocky Mountain Assisted Living policies.
5. Communicates directly with assigned house manager, wellness director, and director of resident care. This includes but is not limited to reporting changes in resident condition.
6. Follows activities calendar, prepares, and conducts activities. Ensures a minimum of one activity is being completed each shift.
7. Reports all items that are running low in the home to the House Manager.
8. Performs housekeeping duties throughout home. Ensures the home is clean and tidy at all times. This includes but is not limited to room cleans, daily and as needed bed making, trash removal from resident rooms and common areas every shift and as needed, cleaning the common areas and bathrooms and the kitchen between each meal and as needed.
9. Participates in all required orientation, training, competency, and in-service programs as scheduled and necessary per RMAL policy.
10. Documents in the 24-hour communication log, activity log, and MAR prior to leaving every shift. Documents in a professional and objective manner.
11. Maintains a positive and professional attitude while representing Rocky Mountain Assisted Living during interactions with families, physicians, outside vendors and other employees.
12. Adheres to safe food practices while preparing scheduled meals. Follows weekly menu when preparing all meals. Communicates with the house manager when there are issues related to the menu such as food supply shortages, recipe availability, or family or resident concerns with meals.
