POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Facilities and Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the operational management of all facilities and maintenance activities within the RMCF manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, capable of leading teams, managing resources efficiently, and contributing to the overall success of the plant's operations. This leadership position ensures the efficient, safe, and cost-effective functioning of plant facilities, machinery, and equipment. The Director will manage a team of maintenance professionals, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, and drive continuous improvement in plant operations to minimize downtime and optimize productivity. The Director will also play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing capital projects, and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees
REPORTS TO: SVP of Operations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead and manage the facilities and maintenance team, including staff training, performance management, and development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and develop programs to support a safe work environment.
- Develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all maintenance operations including Lock Out / Tag Out.
- Develop and implement a proactive preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled downtime and ensure plant efficiency.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the executive team on strategic business planning and budgeting.
- Prepare operating reports, and cost estimates for moves and equipment.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and other records and reports, to determine priorities and projects which support current production estimates and outputs.
- Administer building environmental systems, maintaining a consistent environment for manufacturing
- Oversee the purchase of replacement parts and new equipment/machines. Plan & design new machine layouts and installation processes. Reallocate old equipment/machines, maintaining adequate storage when in transfer or not in use.
- Oversee building, equipment, machine and vehicle maintenance repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain company Physical security systems including surveillance, key fobs, key cards, locks and keys.
- Maintain building fire systems and elevators, working with local vendors as well as local authorities as needed.
- Coordinate equipment downtime and cleaning schedules with Plant Manager, Scheduler, and Department Supervisors.
- Oversee maintenance of grounds, landscaping, and snow removal.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
- Participate in all OSHA, FDA, State Department of Health, and Third-Party audits and inspections.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, facilities management, business management or related discipline. Certification in facilities management a plus. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree and certification.
- At least 5 years of experience in facilities or maintenance supervision.
- Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to solve problems and be proactive in preventing them.
- Must be able to accurately convey written and verbal instructions to others.
- Must be able to work with all team levels including Executive.
- Strong attention to detail
- Flexibility to meet shift changes as required and respond to emergency service calls after hours as needed.
- Working knowledge of common Business technology tools (Microsoft office, Email, Calendar, and Microsoft Teams collaboration tools)
