Assistant Groundskeeper

Location: Lakewood, CO

Salary Range: $19- $23 / hour

Rocky Mountain College of Art Design is seeking an Assistant Groundskeeper on our beautiful, historic campus in Lakewood, CO. This individual is responsible for a variety of tasks which could include any combination of the following: trimming, mowing, pruning, bed prep, flower gardens, use of power machinery, digging, weeding, and clearing rubbish or litter, maintenance of equipment related to grounds keeping. combination of the following: trimming, mowing, pruning, bed prep, flower gardens, use of power machinery, digging, weeding, and clearing rubbish or litter, maintenance of equipment related to grounds keeping. This position may also load and unload trucks as well as perform other facilities-related tasks.

Candidates must live within commuting distance of our campus and have reliable transportation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities

• Plant and maintain lawns, shrubs, trees and other plantings
• Install and maintain sprinkler systems; perform minor repairs; report major problems to Groundskeeper
• Maintain weed control
• Pick up rubbish and litter; perform general grounds cleaning, sweep sidewalks, clean drainage areas, and clear snow
• Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers
• Assist with event setup
• Load and unload trucks
• Perform general custodial and maintenance work duties
• Maintains equipment and tools in good and safe working order Behaviors and Attitudes reflect RMCAD's Mission, Vision, and Values. Other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education
• Any certification associated with gardening, landscaping or horticulture preferred
• 1 year of grounds maintenance experience desired
• RMCAD is a sustainable campus; preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience with environmentally friendly gardening practices
• Must be reliable and able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision
• Experience with methods used in planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns
• Strong ability to read and follow instructions as well as understanding multi-step written and oral instructions
• Skills and experience in operating equipment used in grounds maintenance while adhering to safety practices
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work as part of a team in a variety of facility maintenance- related circumstances
• Valid Colorado driver's license
  
  

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• The noise level in the work environment can be loud enough that personal protective equipment should be worn. Some exposure to temperature extremes. Can be wet and/or humid. Possible mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
• Requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing pulling; frequent stationary position, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; physical mobility and stamina for activities that may be strenuous; and the ability to perform under some temperature extremes.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
