Evening Full Time Campus Security Officer (2pm-10pm)
Location: Lakewood, CO

We are currently seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus, assets, personnel, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle emergency situations with calmness and professionalism.
The RMCAD Department of Safety and Security, composed of the Director of Safety and Security and a team of Security Officers, provides a safe and secure environment for the campus community. By establishing a positive presence, our officers help encourage an environment in which students, faculty, staff, and visitors can openly learn, teach, study, work, and enjoy their time on campus. RMCAD security officers are responsible for patrolling designated areas, responding to emergencies, enforcing policies and regulations, and providing assistance as needed.
This is primarily an Observe and Report security position with an emphasis on customer service. This position is unarmed and does not possess arrest authority beyond that of civilian arrest powers. This position reports to the Director of Safety and Security and is within the Department of Student Affairs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Must be able to adapt to extreme temperature changes while working outdoors.
Adaptability to changing circumstances and a flexible work schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Potential exposure to hazardous materials or situations requiring protective equipment.
Physical requirements
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The position often involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and utilizing hands for tasks such as handling or feeling objects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conducting foot and vehicle security patrols of the campus grounds and buildings.
- Monitoring the department phone line and answering all calls.
- Responding promptly to security and safety situations, including calls for assistance, emergencies, and/or disturbances, etc. Examples include contacting and assisting first responders, confronting individuals who appear to be violating RMCAD policy and/or the law, providing jump start assistance, and escorting individuals around or off the campus.
- Providing general customer service to RMCAD parties and the public.
- Investigating violations of college policies and the law.
- Collaborating with local law enforcement agencies as needed for serious incidents or criminal investigations.
- Ensuring the physical security of buildings, rooms, and their components are fit for operational needs.
- Reporting any unsafe conditions or suspicious activity to the appropriate party or department.
- Rendering first-aid, CPR, and/or an AED when appropriate.
- Assisting in the implementation of emergency response procedures, including evacuations and lockdowns.
- Participating in training sessions and drills related to campus security and emergency preparedness.
- Maintaining accurate records of security-related activities, such as incident reports.
- Supporting campus events.
- Operating the lost and found.
- Monitoring the security camera feed.
- Attending professional development opportunities relevant to the position.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is desirable.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Current or ability to receive certification in first aid, CPR, and AED.
