Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P endorsement).
- A satisfactory driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a bus driver or in a similar driving position preferred.
Safe Operation of Transportation Fleet
- Operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic laws and regulations.
- Perform pre and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in optimal condition.
- Maintain cleanliness (interior and exterior) of fleet vehicles.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to their manager.
- Complies with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) in operating vehicles for passenger transit.
- Ensure safety of all passengers while boarding, during transit, and when exiting the vehicle.
- Provide assistance to passengers as needed.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with passengers.
- Address passenger inquiries and concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
- Maintain working knowledge of streets and alternate routes due to potential road construction or other impediments.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules accurately.
- Manage time effectively to adhere to schedules.
- Adapt to changes in schedules or routes as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of ridership.
- Ability to use hands to operate vehicle controls
- Must be able to sit for up to 90 minutes at a time while operating the bus. All delivery/pick up points are within 5 miles of campus.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required to include close and distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to noise from the vehicle and passengers.
- Schedule may be flexible depending on driver coverage and special events.
