The Director of Brand Strategy leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of RMEF's brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and creative content across all communication channels. This role collaborates with the managing director and executive leadership to craft a cohesive brand strategy, elevate RMEF's presence, and engage target audiences through innovative and impactful campaigns. The Director oversees creative services, including the design and production of assets, while managing internal and external collaborators to uphold the organization's mission and values.
This role requires expertise in brand strategy and creative direction, as well as strong communication and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in brand management and advertising, developing strategic plans, and managing multiple cross-functional projects. The Director must have management experience. This is an in-house position based at our headquarters in Missoula, MT, and is not remote.
Essential Functions :
- Develop compelling brand messaging that resonates with target audiences and aligns with RMEF's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with RMEF departments to maintain and enhance the creative integrity of all internal and external communications, ensuring brand consistency, optimizing campaigns, and refining the brand narrative through data and analytics to maximize effectiveness and impact.
- Oversee the design and production of creative assets, including print media, visual solutions, graphics, photos, and videos, ensuring high-quality execution and timely delivery.
- Implement and manage brand guidelines, ensuring consistency in logos, colors, typography, and visual style across all channels.
- Work with publication staff to ensure Bugle magazine's layout and creative assets reflect the brand vision and engage target audiences.
- Oversee and manage relationships with external creative agencies, freelancers, and vendors to ensure on-brand, high-quality creative elements.
- Develop and manage the brand and creative department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize impact.
Supervision Responsibilities :
Supervise the creative services team and independent contracts.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising or related field is preferred. Six to eight years of progressive experience in brand management, creative direction, or related roles. Strong leadership skills with exceptional communication abilities. Supervisory experience required.

Physical Demands :
The employee must sit or stand for long periods of time; use a computer terminal; reach forward and to the side; bend from both standing and sitting position. Light and some heavy lifting, bending and physical exertion may be required. Production of displays using hand tools and other appropriate materials may be needed. Some travel will be required including overnight travel and weekend work. May require more than standard hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
