The EI clinician (SLP, OT, PT) will work with children birth to three years old who are referred/enrolled in Part C Early Intervention services. This clinician provides direct intervention services as well as evaluations. They will participate in a transdisciplinary team for their Early Intervention caseload as a developmental expert, as a resource to peers, and as an advocate for the needs of the individual client. They will report to the Clinical Team Lead in the Developmental & Behavioral Health – Children’s Clinical Department.

 

Essential Duties

  • Performs intervention activities for children birth to 3 in home, or other environment with a focus on treating infants under the age of 6 months
  • Writes timely and complete evaluation reports, strategy plans, progress notes and correspondences needed to provide high quality services and meet state and company requirements
  • Creates strategies based on family priorities that are measurable and meaningful
  • Effectively communicates test results, diagnosis, and proposed strategies that are functional for the child’s and family’s life and are approached in a Primary Service provider model
  • Collaborates with staff to implement IFSPs. Shares knowledge and resources that enhance children’s developmental progress while providing consultation to Service Coordinators, contracted providers, and families, to assist in meeting the needs of clients
  • Provides families and service providers information about proper techniques to assist with developmental activities at home that supports the child and family’s participation
  • Implements the Primary Service Provider Model for children enrolled in Early Intervention
  • Manages full schedule to accommodate client schedules and meet billable client service hours set by the department (57%-62% of FTE; 23-25 scheduled sessions per week) while utilizing correct CPT coding and non-coding based on billing hierarchy
  • Is culturally responsive and competent in working with a diverse population
  • Potentially supervise doctoral students, graduate students, or clinical fellows
  • Performs other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by clinical leadership team

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have basic computer skills, including word processing
  • Knowledge of Early Intervention systems including standards of practice
  • Ability to understand the needs of a range of disabilities
  • Knowledge of life-span issues, including typical and atypical early human development
  • Knowledge of family social, emotional, financial, psychological and cultural issues
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
  • Knowledge of development in infants and young children
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of developmental challenges specific to discipline
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in family-friendly language
  • Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions
  • Knowledge and understanding of discipline’s national standards of practice

 

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience delivering services (SLP, OT, PT) to children ages birth to 5
  • Master’s degree in discipline area
  • Current licensure to practice (SLP, OT, PT) in the state of Colorado

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking and Writing
  • At least 3 years of experience with children birth to 3
  • Experience and knowledge in treating infants under 6 months in a NICU or clinic setting or within the Early Intervention system
  • Experience in 3rd party reimbursement documentation and procedures
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Registered with the Early Intervention Colorado database
  • Completion of state EI Provider Training
  • Registered and current with Committee for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH)
