Position Purpose
The Training specialist is responsible for managing the various training needs for the Community Transitions Department. This includes leading the internal project to complete a Peer Support Specialist curriculum that will be available to the community and submitted for credentialing approval. The Training Specialist will work alongside the Community Transitions leadership and the Training Program Manager to market the completed peer training to various community partners and entities, with the purpose of offering peer-created content for individuals and organizations pursing professional peer support work. The Training specialist will also work closely with Community Transitions leadership to prepare for any incoming staff and will lead on scheduling and establishing a routine new employee orientation for Care Management, Peer Specialist, and other administrative roles.
The Training Specialist will support in the creation, implementation, and organization of training materials for the Community Transitions department and will keep all materials up to date to accurately capture each role. The Training specialist will also provide and/or coordinate additional trainings and workshops as needed for the Community Transitions Department, Rocky Mountain Human Services, and other community partners at the direction of the Training Program Manager and Community Transitions leadership such as WRAP 1 and other Peer Support Specialist related education.
Essential Duties
Peer Support Specialist Training Development
- Support Program manager in creating and publishing Peer Specialist training curriculum for internal hires.
- Support Program manager in creating and publishing Peer Specialist training curriculum for state and national credentialing bodies.
- Submit curriculum for state and national training approval.
- Schedule and facilitate Peer Support Training for internal and external participants regularly
- Network and create partnerships with community entities (Return to work programs, organizations with peer programs) to provide Peer Support Training and other peer related education.
- Support in developing a business and marketing plan for a Rocky Mountain Human Services Peer Training Program
Community Transitions/RMHS Training Duties
- Prepare New Employee Orientation schedules for all incoming Community Transitions staff.
- Collaborate with Community Transitions department supervisors to complete new hire training checklists, mentoring and follow up trainings.
- Train additional trainers for new employee orientation and mentoring.
- Create/maintain orientation and ongoing training material for Community Transitions department.
- Regularly request and track feedback from participants and implement when appropriate to improve program quality.
- Coordinate and facilitate WRAP groups for internal team members, community partners and other populations as directed.
- Support Community Transitions Leadership in fulfilling contractual training requirements, make recommendations as appropriate for training and system improvements and quality.
- Regularly attend and participate in supervision and other meetings as directed by Program Manager
- Other training related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Training Specialist must model recovery-oriented behaviors, have a deep understanding of the peer role, have strong proven organizational skills, ability to create and meet deadlines, have consistent follow up with multiple parties, experience and working knowledge of various presentation tools and programs, is skilled in facilitation and engaging participants for long periods of time, and demonstrates efficient and consistent communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Personal lived experience with mental health issues and recovery.
- 2 years experience working in a peer support specialist or similar role.
- 2 years experience in training, facilitating and/or teaching small and large groups.
- Experience writing and implementing curriculum for small and large groups.
- Certified WRAP Facilitator, experience of facilitating at minimum 2 complete WRAP groups.
- Current state peer support certification (Colorado Peer and Family Specialist) in good standing and willingness to complete national certification within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in behavioral health field preferred.
- Previous experience working in behavioral healthcare.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in facilitating in-person and remote training.
Driving Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Proof of motor vehicle insurance
- Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work
- No major violations in the past three years.
- No more than two moving violations in the past three years
- Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles
