Job Overview:
Rocky Mountain Landscape Materials is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate to join our team. As a key member of our retail operations, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing sales in person and over the phone, scheduling and dispatching trucks, and contributing to the success of our store.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers, answer questions, and provide product recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
- Handle customer transactions in person and over the phone.
- Show and explain different products and services to customers, ensuring they understand the features and benefits.
- Manage cash handling and POS operations, including processing transactions, handling cash and credit transactions, and operating the point-of-sale system.
- Open, close, and balance the cash drawer.
- Utilize retail math skills to calculate sales tax, discounts, and change for customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized store and yard environment, including restocking displays, various housekeeping items, and providing a helping hand with yard maintenance.
- Maintain signs on materials both in the office and in the yard.
- Develop strong relationships with customers, ensuring they receive excellent customer service and return to our store.
- Utilize phone etiquette skills to communicate effectively with customers and other team members.
- Communicate via two way radio in a professional manner.
- Schedule and dispatch delivery trucks.
- Map deliveries for in house drivers.
- Operate Certified Scale.
- File paperwork as needed.
- Create and advertise marketing content on company's social media pages.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve sales goals and improve store operations.
When not performing the above mentioned essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in retail math and cash handling procedures.
- Strong sales and product knowledge skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive and welcoming store environment.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems and basic math.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Bilingual language skills are an asset.
- Obtain Certified Weigher Certification within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend at the waist to reach within 6" of the ground.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds individually, or 50 pounds with another employee's assistance.
- Frequently stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
- Occasionally muddy and/or dusty conditions.
- Exposure to some outside weather conditions.
- Noise level within the environment is occasionally loud.
