The ROCKY MOUNTAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is looking for a VP OF LENDING. We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced person to lead our team. This is a full-time, in-office position. Work will be performed at the Credit Union branch located at 700 W. 39th Avenue, Denver, CO 80216. Occasional travel to other branch locations or business development events may be required for business needs.

The Credit Union offers a comprehensive health benefits package, a generous PTO plan, paid holidays, and eligibility for participation in the 401K plan. The pay range is $99,552 - $149,328 per year and will commensurate with experience.

Primary Function Of The Position

Design, implement, and monitor strategies that align with corporate goals and objectives. Direct all lending operations, including lending policy development and oversight, as well as lending and collection activities. Oversee the processes, procedures, and policies in the Credit Union’s Lending Department to ensure loan quality, effective underwriting, strong performance, compliance with regulations, and sustainable growth. Regularly evaluate progress to ensure established growth targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the Credit Union’s lending strategy to align with organizational goals and member needs.
  • Provide leadership and direction for all lending activities, including consumer, mortgage, and commercial lending.
  • Collaborate with senior management to create policies and initiatives that drive loan growth, profitability, and portfolio diversification.

Loan Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the management and performance of the loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Monitor portfolio risk and implement strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Regularly analyze loan performance metrics, trends, and market conditions to recommend adjustments.

Product Development

  • Identify opportunities for new or enhanced loan products and services that meet members’ needs and improve competitiveness.
  • Work with marketing and member service teams to promote lending products effectively.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and member feedback to drive innovation in lending solutions.

Compliance And Risk Management

  • Ensure all lending operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies, including NCUA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to address findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory updates and incorporate them into lending operations.

Team Leadership And Development

  • Lead and mentor the lending team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Set performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure team alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and support professional development opportunities for team members.

Member Experience

  • Ensure exceptional member service in all lending operations by streamlining processes and reducing turnaround times.
  • Address escalated member concerns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Develop strategies to enhance member satisfaction and retention through lending services.

Vendor And Partner Relations

  • Manage relationships with external lending partners, vendors, and third-party service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendors meet agreed-upon service levels.

Reporting And Analytics

  • Prepare and present regular reports to the executive team on lending performance, goals, and challenges.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the lending portfolio.
  • Recommend adjustments to lending strategies based on data insights.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with other departments, including marketing, member services, and compliance, to achieve organizational goals.
  • Support Credit Union initiatives such as community outreach, financial education, and business. development

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee loan processing, underwriting, and servicing functions to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and manage technology solutions that enhance lending operations.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the performance of lending operations.

  • Must be familiar with Credit Union financial industry concepts, practices, regulations, and procedures as well as the federal and state laws that govern our activities.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with superior skill, knowledge, and initiative. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education And/or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or other related fields of study or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services and products.
  • A clear understanding of all CU operations and functions.
  • Expert at brand messaging, presentation, and articulation including the Credit Union’s mission and values.
  • Expert at branch balancing including the ability to identify and correct transactional errors.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently.

Skills And Abilities

Proven leadership and management skills, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills as well as exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Work Environment

Duties are generally performed in an office work environment and regularly require sitting or standing at a workstation/desk using a computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, and other office machines and equipment. Operate a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements. Also, involves occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping, and possible lifting, up to 30 pounds to stack and store supplies. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to work in a team environment that is open and able to block out distractions. Compliance with safety procedures is required.
