Position Summary

Rocky Mountain Communities (RMC) is seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Resident Services to lead the management and implementation of programs that support the well-being, self-sufficiency, and housing stability of residents across multiple locations in Colorado. The Director will focus on developing initiatives that promote economic empowerment, community cohesion, and access to essential services, utilizing a trauma- informed approach. This role requires strong administrative, computer, and interpersonal skills, alongside experience working with low-income communities.

Key Competencies :

  • Program Management : Plan, develop, implement, and oversee resident services programs aimed at supporting low-income families, seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and youth. Focus areas include housing stability, financial health, education, and access to health resources that address the social determinants of health.
  • Trauma-Informed Approach : Ensure that all resident services incorporate trauma-informed care principles, fostering a supportive environment where residents and staff feel safe, respected, and empowered.
  • Multi-Location Oversight : Manage the delivery of resident services across multiple RMC locations throughout Colorado, ensuring consistency and quality. Coordinate services across urban and rural sites, tailoring programs to meet local community needs.
  • Advanced Administrative and Computer Skills : Utilize advanced administrative capabilities to manage budgets, set program goals, and streamline operations. Leverage technology tools, including Microsoft Office, cloud-based systems, and data management software, to track outcomes and support program evaluation.
  • Soft Skills : Apply excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and clear communication, to build trust with residents, staff, and partners. Use leadership skills to inspire and guide teams in achieving organizational goals.
  • Community Engagement : Cultivate strong relationships with residents, community partners, and stakeholders. Develop programs that reflect the unique needs of each community while encouraging resident participation and empowerment.
  • Operational Efficiency : Work closely with the VP of Resident Services to manage budgets, ensure compliance, and measure program success. Analyze program data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration with Partners : Collaborate with external partners to integrate services such as economic empowerment, health, and well-being into resident programming.
  • Compliance and Evaluation : Ensure all resident services comply with relevant regulations and best practices. Use data-driven metrics to regularly evaluate program outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in resident services, affordable housing, or community development, or non-profit missions serving low-income populations.
  • Advanced administrative and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, cloud-based systems, and data management platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing programs across multiple locations.
  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead diverse teams and build a collaborative, supportive work environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and partners.
  • Knowledge and experience with trauma-informed care practices.
  • Strong soft skills such as empathy, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Essential Functions of the Role : Must be able to perform the position’s essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation. Essential functions include the ability to lift up to 20 pounds, carry up to 20 pounds, extensive walking, and standing. Ability to operate personal computers and office equipment; read, record, and interpret information; ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and residents. Other functions of the role include :

  • Must be able to travel throughout Colorado and attend meetings and events throughout the communities.
  • Must have the ability to professionally handle a significant level of stress.
  • Must be willing to set up and clean up facilities before and after resident events with occasional lifting and pushing.
  • Ability to travel to other sites or to the corporate offices for required training. Must have a valid state issued Driver’s License
  • Working Conditions

  • This position travels routinely to property locations throughout Colorado.
  • This position may often work in evenings and on weekends, meeting the needs of the department staff and residents.
  • Operates in a professional office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as a computer, photocopiers and telephones.
