We seek a passionate and committed High School English Language Development (ELD) teacher to empower Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) to achieve academic excellence and language mastery. The ideal candidate will create a dynamic and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported, leveraging culturally responsive teaching practices to honor students' diverse identities. As a collaborative member of our instructional team, the ELD teacher will co-teach with content-area educators, provide targeted linguistic supports, and ensure rigorous and equitable access to grade-level learning, helping students build the confidence to express themselves and succeed academically.

- Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide your teaching, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching where needed, and promoting outstanding scholar growth and proficiency.
- Take ownership of your professional growth by actively engaging in regular coaching, being open to feedback, and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations (such as PD, parent-teacher conferences, etc).
- Build a strong, inclusive classroom culture where scholars thrive through proactive routines, culturally responsive structures, and restorative practices that foster belonging.
- Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events, embracing each family's unique perspectives and promoting inclusion and diversity
- Model and embody RMP’s PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness) in all interactions with scholars, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions for all students.
- Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student and staff recruitment efforts.
- Support school operations by assisting with daily duties such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch, ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized learning environment.
- RMP is fast-paced and data-driven. Your role combines clear expectations but also requires flexibility to adapt and contribute to our evolving Concept Essence.
High School English Language Development Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:
- Collaborative Teamwork & Professional Relationships: Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with colleagues and co-teachers to foster a highly collaborative and effective team environment.
- Culturally Responsive Teaching: Implement culturally responsive teaching practices that celebrate the diverse backgrounds and strengths of multilingual learners (mLLs), fostering a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
- Instructional Strategies & Co-Teaching: Partner with content-area teachers, primarily in humanities and ELA classrooms, to co-teach classes that deliver integrated and differentiated instruction, ensuring full-class cohorts of mLL students have equitable access to rigorous learning.
- Language Expertise & Linguistic Support: Plan and deliver linguistic supports and instruction that balance rigorous application and expression of learning with accessibility, incorporating grammar and vocabulary scaffolding to enhance students’ speaking and writing skills.
- Classroom Culture & Student Expression: Build a strong classroom culture where students feel safe and empowered to express themselves through speaking and writing, using well-designed grammatical and vocabulary supports.
- Scaffolding & Differentiation: Develop and implement scaffolding strategies that ensure all students can access and engage with grade-level content while demonstrating their learning in meaningful and rigorous ways.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
Other Requirements
- Within the first year of your employment, it’s required to complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours
- Pass a background check
- Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States
- Preferred Certifications
- Salary: Full-time position with a salary range of $60,000 to $89,000, based on experience and qualifications.
